Role: Training Simulator Developer (Bachelor's Work Placement)
Timeline & Team: 1 years, 3-person development team made up of 1 Developer, a 3D Artist, and a Project Manager
Engine & Platform: Unity 3D, VR

An immersive virtual reality simulator aiming to teach the students of "La Marine Nationale" the step-by-step procedures and safety protocols for handling torpedo ammunition on a navy vessel.

What I worked on

  • Physics-based interactions & animations: Engineered physics-based world interactions, grab mechanics, and immersive hand animations utilising the OpenXR framework. Handling of large machine interactions and animations.
  • 3D immersive user interface: Designed and implemented 3D in-game UI menus, and interaction and game data overlays.
  • Runtime Optimisation & Profiling: Profiled and optimised execution loops and rendering passes to meet performance targets, for this project 90 FPS, required for a comfortable VR experience.
