Exploration/Adventure mini open world game

A narrative exploration game inspired by "La Vie de Joseph Roulin" by Pirre Michon, Vincent Van Gogh and games like The Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You play as Joseph Roulin, a postman on his final day of work. You have the freedom to explore the world, deliver letters, speak to different people and interact with different elements.

What I worked on

Gameplay:

  • Bike controller and physics: Adapted chaos vehicle movement for two wheel vehicles. Handled responsive animations, and smooth transition between walk and bike.
  • World interactions system: Tool for handling interaction data and camera angles. Smooth camera angle switches.
  • Cinematics system: Use of UE5 level sequencer for integration and logic. Modular system for quick integration.

Tools:

  • Timeline based world lighting and material tool: Use of timelines and UE5 global material parameters for controlling and changing properties of post processing and materials based on day cycle progression. Modular system for easy control and adding of parameters.
  • World bound creation tool: Use of splines and UE5 draw spline for creation of world bounds and collisions.
